Camp Easter Seals!
Session 1 log, 2005

July, 2005

(Editor's note: we had some issues setting up the log this time, so just a brief summary from Jane.)

Session one was a lot of fun... and very little rain, hurray!

Both the girls and the boys got camp outs in this session, almost unheard of for us! We had only two new campers, Peter and Abby -- both were enthusiastic and we hope they'll be back for many happy summers.

Bill, Archie, Liz, Kevin and Christina were our program staff for the session and really put together a high energy week. Because we had only twenty campers at camp we were able to go off camp twice all together to the beautiful pool at the Elks Club in Gallup, one of the days we stayed for a luau with teriyaki chicken kabobs, and fancy fruit salad. Of course seeing Archie as a hula girl was really the hit of the day!

Our daily programs included our usual activities of archery, golf, arts and crafts, and nature hikes in addition to going out for bowling and swimming. Our evening activities were a campfire, It's a Knockout crazy relays, Game Show Night, Talent Show, Kangaroo Court, and our closing dance. This year we added a new twist to the dance with each cabin practicing a special choreographed dance to present at the dance.
